About MacAngus Designs
Kate was born in North Oxfordshire where she felt ‘the world turned really slowly’ and her vivid imagination grew from her love of the outdoors and the many worlds beyond her village boundaries. As a child she was obsessed with the Cottingley Fairies story, as well as anything mythical and magical.
As an adult she has always enjoyed the hunt for unusual objects and uncommon items, feeding her interest in oddities and their unique contrasting beauty.
As a daughter of an architect and from a creative family, she has always had an appreciation for design and was encouraged from a young age to draw and make, this played a key role in Kate’s education and interests.
From 2005-2008 she studied at the School of Jewellery in Birmingham, completing a Ba Hons in Jewellery and Silversmithing. Here she developed a broad understanding of design and making, gaining recognition after developing an award winning collection which combined found objects, precious metals and textiles.
Currently she is now developing a range of pieces which are inspired by her love of talisman objects and the intrinsic magic of gemstones. Combing textures, mixed metals, colour with strong yet feminine forms. .
Alongside this collection, Kate works with individuals to design and make bespoke pieces which is discussed further on the Commissions page.
Kate’s work has been feature in several photoshoots which have been featured on Festival Brides, Whimsical Wonderland Weddings and published in Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine.
